WSCCA AWARD NOMINATIONS 

WSCCA aims to recognize and celebrate the diverse accomplishments of the exceptional women, men and programs within our organization.

 

Nominations for 2024-2025 will be available in late fall of 2024.

WSCCA AWARDS
Nominate a coach, school, or program today!

 

Process for Nominations
  • Anyone familiar with the candidate/program can make nominations, including cheerleaders, parents, coaches, and administrators.

  • After the online submission period ends, all nominations will be gathered and presented to the WSCCA awards committee for voting on finalists in each category.

  • The finalists will then be reviewed by the full WSCCA board to choose winners based on various factors, such as the quantity and quality of nomination descriptions.

  • If necessary, additional information and interviews may be requested to gain further insights into the candidates.

Please be aware that the Awards Committee is composed of the Committee Chair and selected WSCCA Board Members. Members with personal connections to nominees or who are nominated themselves must abstain from discussing that particular category.

Scholastic, College, and Rec Coach of the Year
  • Nominee must be a current WSCCA member in good standing.

  • Nominee must have a minimum total 6 years of cheer coaching experience.

  • Nominee must be an active coach for the current school year 23-24.

  • Nominee has developed the image, reputation, and ability to inspire fellow coaches, and/or athletes.

  • Nominee must have maintained a substantial record of service to the cheer community, as well as helped to further educate coaches, athletes, and WSCCA members with emphasis on teaching and coaching.

  • Nominee must have maintained a substantial record of service and promotion toward the growth of the sport.  

 

Scholastic and Rec Assistant Coach of the Year
  • Nominee must be a current WSCCA member in good standing.

  • Nominee must be an active assistant coach for the current school year 23-24.

  • The head coach of the program must sign off on the nomination. (The head coach must be a current member of the WSCCA.)  

  • Nominee can be an assistant coach that serves as a head coach for another sport outside of cheer.

Scholastic AD and Rec Administrator of the Year
  • Nominee must have been with the school/program for at least 3 years.

  • Nominee demonstrates commitment, cooperation, and allegiance in promoting excellence with in the cheer community.

  • Nominee demonstrates a commitment to professional development and mentoring of their cheer coaching staff.

  • Nominee serve as a positive role mode

  • Nominee demonstrate leadership and vision in the growth of the cheer program.

  • Nominee is committed to the education and welfare of their student-athletes.

Scholastic and Rec Rising Star
  • Nominee must an active coach within the first 5 years with their school/program.

  • Nominee has shown ongoing and exceptional growth in the art of cheer coaching and leadership

  • Nominee has contributed to the cheer community through coach and service.

  • Nominee has made a positive and lasting impact in their local/extended cheer community.

 

Scholastic, College, and Rec Program of the Year
  • Program nominee has the same head coach/coaching staff for the last 5 years.

  • Program nominee has contributed to their community by participating in at least 2 team service projects.

  • Program nominee has displayed a fearless tenacity and has defy limitations through leadership, perseverance, dignity.

  • Program nominee has displayed a commitment to overcome obstacles in pursuit of program goals.

Member of the Year
  • Nomination is required and can only be made by members in good standing on WSSCA Board. All nominations are confidential and must be forwarded to the WSSCA Awards Committee for consideration.

  • Nominee must have been an active member for at least 3 years.

  • Nominee must be a current WSCCA member in good standing.

  • Nominee must have demonstrated a continuing interest in and support of the WSCCA through the contribution of time, talent, or resources to the purpose and objectives of the Association.

  • Nominee must have a record of attendance (or provided proxy) at all scheduled WSCCA Board meetings.

  • Nominee must have a record of attending and/or serving at a minimum of 2 WSCCA activities/events, such as Conference, Last State Qualifier, etc.

  • Nominee must have a record of serving or personally contributing to at least 1 committee established by the WSCCA Board.

Hall of Fame
  • Nomination is required and can only be made by members in good standing on WSSCA Board. All nominations are confidential and must be forwarded to the WSSCA Awards Committee for consideration.

  • Nominee must have served the cheer community for a minimum of 8 years.

  • Nominee must have been a previous WSCCA award winner in any category other than Hall of Fame.

  • Nominee must have demonstrated a continuing interest in and support of the WSCCA and Washington State Cheer Community through the contribution of time, talent, or resources.

Award winners must be members of the WSCCA (with the exception of the administrator categories). You may vote for more than one category in separate submissions.  The following is the comprehensive list of awards:

*For coaches in year 1-3 of their career

**Anyone part of a program's board or operations that is exceptional.  Example: president, vice president, athletic director, etc.
